Rain

Yesterday,
it rained;
Not powerful Pacific,

not drums and brass,
but simple strings.

It was peaceful.
It cried me to sleep.

But tonight the
sky sings silent.

I don’t need a
symphony, only
a songbird.
I don’t miss
the ocean, only
the rhythm
of the rain.

This silence
plays loud,
reminds me
of the songs
I no longer hear,
reminds me
of the person
I know longer am.
Makes me grieve.
