Water

Severe Thunderstorm
I want
to be
limitless
like water,
creative as
reflection
in the pond’s
shimmering
surface.
I want to
be ocean:
calm when
captured,
but currents
with the
capacity to
overturn ships
and drown
a man.
I want
to be
content to
fish bowl,
never curious
for more.
I want
to be
elusive
like rain,
unpredictable
as the
size of
each drop.
I want
to be
water,
shapeless
and vast,
heavy
and ethereal.
I want to
be strong,
indiscernible,
and necessary.
